On Saturday, October 20th, the Modern Architecture+ Design Society (MA+DS) returns to Boulder for the first time since 2012 to present the Modern Home Tour. The event gives regional architects, designers, and home builders the opportunity to showcase their work to the community in which they work. In turn, the self-guided tour gives the community an opportunity to engage the minds behind the designs and ask questions as they explore some of Boulder’s modern homes inside and out.
Joining the tour as non-profit beneficiary and volunteer partner is the American Institute of Architects Student chapter at University of Colorado Boulder. Students will help staff the event, in return for a donation to the club and the opportunity to use the tour as a fundraising vehicle, while also contributing volunteer hours and making connections in their field.
Participating homes on the 2018 Boulder Modern Home Tour will open their doors for viewing from 11AM – 5PM on Saturday, October 20th. Tickets to see all homes are $40 in advance and $50 on the day of the tour. Ages 12 and up are invited to attend.

It is no secret that Colorado is growing, and that Colorado architects are charged with designing our future. We are seeing dramatic changes in the architectural landscape all around us—from Denver to the Western Slope, Fort Collins to Pueblo.
Since 2014, Colorado has gained approximately 265,059 residents. And while this influx of people can be good news in many ways, it can also spur growing pains.
Today’s architect must consider not only their own career, personal and organization’s growth, but also the complex reality of the growth of their own communities and how to approach it in a responsible and sustainable way.
