2026 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Each year, the Guild holds elections for new board members, who serve for two years. The board is made up of qualified members who are dedicated to advancing the craft of green building in Colorado and are passionate about leading this organization to the next level. The CGBG Newsletter will announce a call for applications towards the end of the year, and our next election will be held in January 2027. Anyone who is interested in applying should email us at admin@cgbg.org with a bio for the board’s consideration.
Jessica Hunter
President
Jessica Hunter, AIA, CPHT+D, is a licensed architect at BOSS.architecture where she designs high performance custom homes, restaurants, and boutique commercial projects. Her work has been featured on BYDESIGN: America, published in MODERN IN DENVER, and has been recognized by AIA Colorado’s annual design awards. Most recently Jessica has been included in Denver Business Journal's top 40 under 40.
She became a licensed architect in 2021 and continues to expand her expertise through Passive House certifications and a dedication to constant learning. She shares her knowledge with her office, her network, as a public speaker, and through mentorship programs. She believes that we all have something to learn and we all have something to teach; this ethos is emblematic of who she is as a professional.
Jessica has served on the board of the Colorado Green Building Guild (CGBG) since 2020 where she has contributed to Marshall Fire recovery efforts, helped start the CGBG Advanced Training Scholarship Program, and co-organized countless home tours and educational events. She also serves on the AIA Government Affairs Committee where she learns about and weighs in on legislation that impacts the built environment and the profession of architecture.
Karen Ramsey
President Elect
Karen Ramsey is a passionate advocate for wellness and sustainable construction based in Fort Collins, CO. With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Karen has recognized the importance of intertwining wellness principles with building practices.
She is the founder of Building Wellness, a consulting business offering services in Passive House Consulting, Energy Modeling, and Cost Consulting. Karen is dedicated to creating healthy and environmentally friendly spaces that are accessible and affordable.
Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending time with her three teenage kids and their dog, Sunny. She is a Certified Passive House Tradesperson and a certified Ayurveda Health Counselor. Karen is committed to continuous learning and is excited to contribute to the local green building community through her involvement with CGBG.
Johnny Rezvani
Past President
Johnny Rezvani has worked with 475 High Performance Building Supply for 13 years, serving as Marketing Director across North America at a company dedicated to pushing building performance to the next level. Its guiding slogan is, “Build Like the Future Depends On It.” Since 2009, he has worked with sustainability-focused organizations across the non-profit, for-profit, local government, and academic sectors.
Johnny joined the CGBG Board in 2021 and has served as President or Co-President since 2023. Alongside his fellow Board members, he has helped lead CGBG through major initiatives such as the Build Forward Expo following the Marshall Fire, while also driving regional growth in membership, sponsorship, and overall budget making it possible to hire the organization’s new Executive Director this year.
On the rare occasion he’s not talking about sustainable building, you’ll find him pedaling along Boulder’s bike paths.
Shannon Wehner
Past President
Shannon Wehner, AIA, is a licensed Architect and Associate at Rodwin Architecture, specializing in high-performance custom residential design. Influenced by growing up in New Mexico’s expansive landscapes and earth-rooted architecture, she is passionate about making sustainable design both approachable and attainable for homeowners.
Shannon has completed multiple Net-Zero Energy homes along Colorado’s Front Range, guiding clients through integrated passive and active sustainability strategies from concept through construction. Her focus on resilient design is shaped by hands-on experience working with homeowners rebuilding after the Marshall Fire, as well as her leadership on the Colorado Green Building Guild Board, where she has helped advance community-wide rebuilding efforts through education, builder training, and high-performance workforce development initiatives.
She has served on the Colorado Green Building Guild Board since 2022, is a Jason Pettigrew Memorial ARE Scholar, and is a Certified Passive House Tradesperson (CPHT). Committed to lifelong learning, Shannon continues to pursue advanced education in sustainable and resilient building practices to provide the highest level of support to her clients.
Matt Brill
Matt Brill is a builder, innovator, and advocate for sustainable living. He founded Bauen Build to bring Passive House homes to Boulder and the Colorado Front Range.
With a background in business and a Master’s in Urban Design from UC Berkeley, Matt blends technical precision with a passion for advanced building science. He’s committed to using high-performance methods to create durable, healthy homes that minimize environmental impact.
Matt is an active board member of the Colorado Green Building Guild and lives with his family in Boulder in a certified Passive House he and his team built.
Margot Rode
Margot Rode has worked in residential construction and design since her arrival in Colorado to attend CU Boulder for her MS degree in Construction Engineering and Management.
She has worked as a professional engineer, project manager, and in the trades as a carpenter and stone mason. She is passionate about resource conservation, promoting women in the industry / trades, and education for building science, sustainable design / planning, and local code adoption.
She moved to Buena Vista in 2024 where she currently works at Builders First Source in outside sales.
Johnny Hourihan
With nearly 10 years of experience in the solar industry, Johnny Hourihan specializes in both photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal systems. He studied Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology at Northern New Mexico College, and his hands-on expertise spans system design, installation, and maintenance.
Johnny's commitment to sustainability is also reflected in his six years living off-grid in a passive, strawbale home, where he gained firsthand experience in energy self-sufficiency and green building practices. Additionally, he spent six years working with food recovery operations, helping to reduce waste and support local communities.
In recent months, Johnny has shifted his focus to deconstruction in the Boulder/Denver area. He is exploring the environmental benefits and challenges of deconstructing buildings to reduce waste, salvage materials, and support the circular economy. With a broad background in renewable energy, sustainable living, and construction practices, Johnny is passionate about advancing solutions for a more sustainable future.
Cheryl Corsiglia
Cheryl is a cofounder of Living Craft, a construction company that focuses on the use of non-toxic and carbon sequestering materials to build healthy and high performance homes/remodels.
She got into the construction industry through an internship with Community Rebuilds, building a straw bale home in Moab. An Earthen Building course in Nicaragua led to some connections to the natural building community in CO. Being a tradesperson runs in the family: her grandfather designed and built houses in Florida.
She is also on the board of the Natural Building Alliance. Most weekends, you’ll find Cheryl rock climbing, a hobby that has taken her to many beautiful places.
Matt Ellsworth
Matt is originally from Michigan and moved out to Colorado after graduating from Michigan State University in 2010. He started in construction at an early age, tinkering and building treehouses with his grandfather. Eventually, he moved into building climbing walls, which ultimately took him to Costa Rica to oversee construction of a climbing wall near Arenal.
After returning to the US, he worked for several years on a non-profit backcountry trail crew during the warmer months, and climbed cell towers in the off-season. From there, he moved into commercial contracting and has since transitioned into custom homes.
He is passionate about Green Building and seeks to help advance the shift towards more intelligently constructed homes that maximize comfort and longevity while minimizing waste and environmental impact. In his off time, Matt enjoys climbing, skiing, yoga, pickleball, and his adorable dog Alma.
Carrie Larsen
Carrie Larsen, the sole proprietor of August Design Studio, LLC, has over 20 years of architectural experience working in numerous sectors of the built environment, from large-scale commercial construction project management, to international and national commercial interiors, natural and alternative building methods, regenerative design practices, and residential architectural and interior design. Carrie’s skills even extend to custom residential upholstery and decor.
August Design Studio is deeply passionate about creating efficient, affordable homes that are in harmony with nature. Carrie firmly believes that healthy and sustainable design does not have to come with an exorbitant price tag or involve discomfort. Her studio thrives on collaboration with clients, providing them with the expertise and guidance necessary to transform their visions into reality in a way that withstands the test of time.

Samantha Fruhwirth
Samantha Fruhwirth is a multifaceted designer whose work bridges architecture, natural building, and the performing arts. She holds a B.A. in Architecture from Columbia University and a Certificate in Healthier Materials & Sustainable Building from the Healthy Materials Lab at Parsons School of Design. Her experience with design-build firms and fabricators enables her to seamlessly connect design intent with construction realities, ensuring projects maintain their integrity from concept through completion.
Samantha has delivered a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential projects, including multi-family complexes, spas, saunas, and wellness spaces. Her passion for technical design and synthesizing traditional and alternative building techniques has led her to participate in hands-on natural building workshops and research intentional living communities. This commitment to sustainable, health-conscious design aligns with her studies in healthier materials and her belief that buildings should support both human and environmental well-being.
Her background as a professional dancer uniquely informs her design philosophy, bringing heightened attention to human scale, spatial experience, materiality, and movement. Currently based in Boulder, Samantha works with Animal Arts, an architecture firm specializing in animal care facilities.
